About Floral Water
Floral waters (also known as hydrolats or hydrosols) are the aromatic condensate that remain after the extraction of essential oil by water or steam distillation and with their subtle, precious formulas are known for their gentle, therapeutic properties.
When essential oils are produced, not all of the aromatic and healing principles held within the plant are captured in the oil; certain components are 'hydrophilic', which means they dissolve into water, and this produces what is known as flower water.
Floral waters are commonly used as a natural component of skin toners or as additional ingredient in cream blends for wonderfully nourished and fragrant skin; they have natural skin toning and conditioning properties and have been used for centuries around the world.
Hydrolats are much milder than essential oils and can be applied directly to the skin without dilution.
Rose
The sweet floral aroma of rose is known for its mood-boosting and calming properties, potentially reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation, and just as a freshly cut rose or bouquet delivery does, creates an uplifting feeling of happiness and wellbeing.
Used topically Rose is invaluable for soothing and balancing red, inflamed skin and repairing and strengthening capillaries, as well as purifying the skin. Sugars contained in Rose oil play an important role in hydration and prevent destruction of elastins. Not only effective for moisturising, its general stimulant and antiseptic action helps tone the skin and although it is beneficial to all skin types it has particularly positive effects on dry, mature skin. Its astringent properties help reduce puffiness and oedema and it also causes a slight tightening of the skin for immediate wrinkle reduction making it most suitable for dry, sensitive and mature skin.
